Geopolitics, Multilateralism and the Future of Democracy

The post-colonial era and the accompanying rise of the global majority have been the two most significant and positive aspects of human development in the last few centuries. However, these advances have been accompanied by rising geopolitical tensions as a result of competing economic interests and differences in ideologies. This has triggered global discussions about what should underpin successful systems of governance and the need for accepting plurality in how countries conduct their affairs. This panel will explore these questions and the idea of a set of common values that can bind nations together in this new world order.

Discussions aim to the understand the following:

The Pathway to Collaboration and Shared Prosperity

As the world becomes more interconnected and mutually dependent, it has become critical for countries to foster a greater understanding through people to people exchanges that cut across different levels of societies between countries. From interactions at the highest levels of government, academia, media, industries, youth to the public, these bridges can help to form connections and drive mutual collaboration between countries. Through real-world examples and anecdotes, this panel will focus on what actions can enhance mutual appreciation and recognition through people-to-people diplomacy, thereby ensuring shared prosperity for all.
